Still no place for the new academic year? Take a breath: in mid-July, nothing is lost yet. Between Parcoursup's complementary phase and the apprenticeship route, real opportunities remain to build a 2026 start that suits you. Here's how to bounce back methodically with SuperAlternant.

Parcoursup's complementary phase, explained

The complementary phase runs from 11 June to 10 September 2026: you can add new choices, until 9 September included, for the places still available in programmes that have not filled their capacity.

Two things to remember this summer:

  • Summer pause: selective programmes suspend their replies from 13 July to 20 August 2026. Don't worry about silence during this period — it's normal.
  • The CAES is there for you: from 1 July, the higher-education access commission individually supports candidates left without an offer. Don't hesitate to contact it.

Work-study: the plan B that often becomes plan A

Many apprenticeship programmes recruit all year round, without being tied to the classic calendar. That's an opportunity: while others wait, you can act right now.

Work-study means a recognised degree, professional experience and a salary at the end. Before diving in, take five minutes to compare the two routes with our guide on apprenticeship or internship: how to choose, then check your future apprentice pay.

Three actions to take this week

  1. Target the sectors that are hiring. Digital, retail, industry, services: discover the sectors hiring the most work-study students in 2026.
  2. Prepare a strong application. A clear CV and a tailored cover letter make the difference: follow our guide on CVs and cover letters for apprenticeships.
  3. Apply without waiting. On SuperAlternant, find targeted work-study and training offers, and submit your applications in a few clicks.

In apprenticeships, half of all contracts are never advertised: spontaneous applications and your network are your best allies this summer.

Stay on course until the start of term

Landing an interview changes everything: prepare seriously with our tips to ace your apprenticeship interview. And to keep your summer budget under control, take a look at our perks and good deals for students.

A "no" on Parcoursup isn't an ending, but a starting point. By combining the complementary phase with your work-study search, you give yourself every chance of a successful 2026 start. Happy hunting!
